Some of my favorite memories of my early years are from the time I spent on my grandparents farm in Koosharem, Utah. There are countless memories, including milking cows, hauling hay and the incredible beauty of the mountains and the trees. Quaken Aspens grew naturally in the area. I love the crisp white bark with the “eyes” and leaves that are so colorful in the fall.

With all the financial woes in the markets today I can’t help but think of the ripple effect. The actions will ripple through the financial systems and lives of people throughout the world. Apex, NC. Nov 2007.

Swans are one of the most elegant creatures alive. They glide so smoothly across the water. This was a fortunate moment when the background was in deep shadow and the waning light illuminated the swan. Cary, NC. Sept 2005.

I was really surprised when we moved to North Carolina at the amount of wildlife that lived so closely to the residential areas. In particular the Blue Heron amazed me. They are quite skittish and keep a good distance, which makes it that much harder to photograph them. I had just enough time to frame this scene and got two pictures before it was gone. Apex, NC. Every once in a while you have to stick in a sunset picture. Sunsets are not all created equal and it is so often a matter of location when it comes to a good sunset picture. In this case, the sun had set and the trailing light was reflecting off the surface of Lake Jordan. NC. Oct. 2007
