I was really surprised when we moved to North Carolina at the amount of wildlife that lived so closely to the residential areas. In particular the Blue Heron amazed me. They are quite skittish and keep a good distance, which makes it that much harder to photograph them. I had just enough time to frame this scene and got two pictures before it was gone. Apex, NC. Nov. 2005.
